Additional artist info
Marvin Eibl, born in Salzburg, Austria, displayed an early passion for the arts. As a child, he wrote songs and learned to play guitar and drums in his father’s music studio, where he was also exposed to unique instruments like the hang drum and Jew’s harp. Alongside music, Marvin developed a strong interest in visual arts—drawing, painting, and later, in high school, experimenting with sculpture and other media that continue to inspire his creativity.
At around 14 or 15, Marvin ventured into band music and developed an inventive recording technique with a school friend. Using only their phones, they layered multiple vocal tracks by recording, replaying, and adding voices, gradually building complete compositions. This unconventional approach sparked his journey into electronic music.
Around the same time, he discovered artists like The Prodigy, Netsky, and Pendulum, deepening his fascination with electronic sounds. Hearing Nero’s track “Act Like You Know” inspired him to get his first music workstation, launching him into music production, sound design, and mixing—a path he largely pursued through hands-on experimentation.
During this time, Marvin took on a variety of jobs to support his passion, working in the service industry, as a security guard, and even as a graphic designer, primarily doing illustrations. These roles helped him stay afloat and fund his music, allowing him to keep developing his skills and artistic vision.
In 2017, he officially launched “Screamarts,” marking a new chapter as he began collaborating with other artists, further refining his craft, and steadily moving toward a professional career. By 2022, Marvin had achieved a significant milestone: Screamarts became his full-time career, allowing him to dedicate himself entirely to music. Today, he continues to build his career, pushing creative boundaries with every new project.
why the mask?
Why does Screamarts wear the mask? The artist draws deep inspiration from the architecture, weaponry, and mystique of ancient Japanese culture. The Samurai and Ronin aesthetic feels almost mythical to him, captivating his imagination with its sense of honor, resilience, and solitude. When he first discovered games like Ghost of Tsushima and FromSoftware’s Sekiro, they sparked an idea: a persona that embodied this world.
As an artist invested in storytelling, Screamarts saw the potential for a narrative to complement his music, especially for releases on the Eatbrain label. He created a character, the Straw Hat Ronin Screamarts, and envisioned sending this figure on “missions” with each new EP, with each release building on the Ronin’s journey. Over time, this concept grew, and the iconic glowing red mask became his signature—now synonymous with Screamarts and his unique sound. What started as an idea transformed into a living story, and there’s still much more of the Ronin’s path to unfold.
